“We Belong Together” is one of Carey’s many love songs, and a Grammy Award winner for “Best Female R&B Vocal Performance” and “Best R&B Song”. It is the second single from Mariah Carey’s tenth studio album, The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). The song topped the Hot 100 Airplay Chart for a total of 16 weeks in 2005.
Its lyrics chronicle a woman’s desperation for her former lover to return after their separation.
And, here it is the chorus section:
When you left
I lost a part of me
It’s still so hard to believe
Come back, baby, please, ’cause
We belong together
Who am I gonna lean on
When times get rough?
Who’s gonna talk to me
Till the sun comes up?
Who’s gonna take your place?
There ain’t nobody better.
Oh baby, baby
We belong together
